What counts as independent
- Locally owned and run — however many sites they have.
- Not national or regional chains, franchises, or brewery- or corporate-owned groups.
- Local charities and public venues (an arts centre, a community hall) are included where they're locally meaningful, by editorial judgement.

How we check things
Every place and event is reviewed by a person before it appears. Each page says when it was last checked. We only show details like opening hours or step-free access when we actually have them — if we don't know, we say nothing. Spotted something wrong? Use “Report incorrect info” on any page.
